First Indian Athlete Hima Das- Winner of IAAF World Under-20
The Assam girl clocked 51.46 seconds to claim the top position in Indian U-20 record. The event took place in Finland, Tampere. She has left back Miklos from Romania (52.07 seconds) and USA's Taylor Manson (52.28 sec).
Hima Das ran like wind to claim gold in the 400m race at the IAAF Under-20 meet claiming India’s first-ever gold at a world track event. Her father, Ranjit Das, is a rice farmer from Assam’s Nagaon district. Popularly known as “Dhing Express” by people from the village Dhing she belongs to. Being a socially conscious teenager used to take the lead in demolishing country liquor supplies in her village.
