The award is named after Ramon Magsaysay, the 7th President of the Philippines. This Foundation gives the prize to Asian individuals and organizations doing outstanding work in their respective fields.
Two Indians Bharat Vatwani and Sonam Wangchuk, Howard Dee from Philippines, Vo Thi Hoang Yen of Vietnam, Maria de Lourdes Martins Cruz from East Timor and Chhang, Youk from Cambodia are the six winners of this great award.
Vatwani showed his tremendous courage and healing compassion in embracing India’s highly poor people, and restoring and affirming the human dignity of even the most rejected ones.
Wangchuk, 51, has improved the life of Ladakhi youth by developing systematic, collaborative and community-driven reform of learning systems in remote north India.
Award’s formal presentation ceremonies are to be held on August 31, 2018 in Philippines.
